Adobe–Dictionary.Com
Adobe and Dictionary.com Integration
Whenever you're reading an Adobe PDF and want to quickly look up a word, Dictionary.com is the go-to resource for definitions. Here’s how to use this feature:
-
Listen to the Text
-
Wait for the Text-to-Speech (TTS) voice to read the word or passage out loud.
-
Double-click and Right-click
-
Double-left click on the word you want to define, then right-click it.

Once you click, the word (like "pack") will be sent to Dictionary.com, where you’ll see its definition. Don’t worry—advertisements and distractions won’t be shown in the screenshot for clarity.
Once you click, the word (like "pack") will be sent to Dictionary.com, where you’ll see its definition. And here’s the special part: the read aloud feature works on the dictionary entries!
This can be super helpful for all learners, especial for young scholars having hopes of becoming veritable wordsmiths.

You’ll also see translations in different languages (like Polish, for example), and they can often be read aloud as well. Perfect for future polyglots who may aspire to be a CEO of an international business, a diplomat, or a bon vivant sojourning from one country to another around the world.

A Cautionary Note to Mom and Dad —
Dictionary.com is a great tool for expanding vocabulary, but it can be filled with ads and distractions—which may not be suitable for younger users without a parent's guidance who has a wary eye of the unseemly things that can be found on the web.
Be that as it may, if your child's present interest is solely learning to read, you can disable the definition feature. Then your worries are over, and your children can work safely on their own.
