Immersive Reader on Smartphones

Shows whether or not Immersive Reader is accessible

Why Immersive Reader Helps

Immersive Reader can turn English text into dozens of languages, read the text aloud, and show it in a clean, easy‑to‑follow layout. On a smartphone, this can make stories, poems, and explanations much easier to understand — especially for multilingual families.

1. Is the Immersive Reader always accessible?

No, it is not. When a page is laid out in such a way that there is an advantage to some readers to read it with the the Immersive Reader, an algorithm will be triggered that makes the page accessible.

2. What indicates that the Immersive Reader is accessible?

Following the URL there will be an open-book icon present.

3. On which pages may the open-book icon be accessed?

Under the Classic Library heading you can frequently access Immersive Reader under the subheadings Literary Appreciation, Lullabies and Nursery Rhymes, and Evangeline Prolog.

4. When the user taps on one of the subheadings will the open-book icon open automatically?

No, the user must first refresh his or her display before the open-book icon will appear.

5. Once the open-book icon appears, will it stay visible while the user surfs from page to page? Yes it will, even if you switch languages.
